Boobies Bash expands -- even amidst setbacks

A group of communication students from Ithaca College took Feel Your Boobies on as their client for a class project. Their goal was to plan and execute an event and the result is something quite impressive. During the day on April 5th, the Boobies Bus will be on display in the Ithaca Commons, where we'll be handing out materials about breast cancer as well as promoting the evening fundraiser, the Boobies Bash. In the evening, the students will be hosting a Boobies Bash in Ithaca on April 5th, 2008 at the Second Floor Bar in Ithaca. This is the first time a group outside of Feel Your Boobies has planned this event and our goal is to use this experience to create a packaged event that other can use to do the same thing.
Money raised from the Boobies Bash in Ithaca was slated to be used to run a billboard in the town to target the approximately 30,000 college students there. To my extreme disappointment, as an Ithaca College alumna who loved the liberal feel of this college town, Park Outdoor (the local billboard company) has denied our request to purchase billboard space in town. Hmmm - more to come on that, I'm sure. So, instead, the students have decided to make general donation to our Boobies Awareness Campaign to suport our Aerial Ad campaign at the New Jersey Shore this summer. Change is never easy, I suppose, but I am disheartened when good that could be done is halted due to some people's views about the word "boobies". Though not yet confirmed, I'm almost certain that gentlemen's clubs have been able to run billboards owned by Park -- comparitively speaking one might question the rationale there. I decided to write an article about this -- so stay tuned for that.
Another Boobies Bash is also in the works in York, PA on April 11th at Harp & Fiddle. This too is the first time the event will be held outside of Harrisburg, PA and we're looking forward to gaining momentum with this event in other locations soon.
